If your home is under 2,500 sq ft with a single-zone HVAC system and no high-draw appliances, the 18kW may be sufficient. If you have multiple high-draw loads or are over 4,000 sq ft, the 24kW or higher may be the better fit. HomeSafe performs a load calculation on every site visit to confirm the right size before any equipment is ordered.
Not sure what size you need? See our installation guide →The Generac 22kW is the step up for larger DFW homes and higher appliance loads — homes where the 18kW would require circuit trade-offs and the 14kW would leave too much unprotected. At 22kW, you have the headroom to run whole-home HVAC, standard appliances, and high-draw items simultaneously without managing load priorities.
This is one of Generac's "Next Gen Series" units — it ships as a complete system with a 200-amp automatic transfer switch included, which comes with built-in whole-home surge protection (a $300 value on its own). Earlier Generac models sold the transfer switch separately; this model doesn't.
The 22kW runs on the G-Force 1000 engine — a larger displacement (999cc), purpose-built, pressure-lubricated engine designed specifically for standby generator use. The Power Zone 200 Controller connects via cellular Mobile Link — not WiFi — so remote status monitoring, maintenance alerts, and outage notifications keep working even if your home's internet service is down during the outage that triggered the generator in the first place. True Power™ technology keeps total harmonic distortion below 5 percent for clean operation of inverter-driven HVAC equipment and sensitive electronics.
HomeSafe installs and services the Generac 22kW across DFW — Fort Worth, Southlake, Keller, Colleyville, Flower Mound, Frisco, McKinney, and surrounding communities. As a Generac PowerPro Elite+ dealer, we stock most parts locally and provide priority service support.
Generac rates this model at 22kW on liquid propane and 21kW on natural gas. For homes on a natural gas line, 21kW is the effective capacity.

Cameron was great at scheduling and communicating everything from gas to electrical to install. Manny made sure we understood everything during generator school. I highly recommend HomeSafe and their team!”
“HomeSafe installed a generator about 4 months ago — did everything from start to finish. Friday night, power goes out, generator kicks in 4 seconds. Called Saturday morning at 6:30am; Tye came out, found a failed component — Saturday morning, 20 degrees with wind chill — and got us rolling before he left. 5-star reviews should be 10!”
“HomeSafe did a wonderful job. Bill, Seth, Nick, and Keith were on time, professional, and did an amazing install and startup. Everyone took pride in their work and it shows! Highly recommend!”
