For large DFW homes where the 26kW would be stretched thin, the 28kW provides the headroom without the site-prep requirements of a commercial-class unit.
This model runs the same G-Force 1000 engine as the 22kW through 26kW Guardian units, and ships as a complete system with a 200-amp automatic transfer switch included — built-in whole-home surge protection comes bundled with it, a $300 value on its own. It also introduces Generac's Power Zone 200 Controller with cellular Mobile Link connectivity. Where the older Evolution-controlled Guardian models connect via WiFi, the Power Zone 200 uses cellular — meaning remote monitoring and status updates remain active even if your home's internet service is out during an outage. If you're not home when the power goes out, you'll know the generator is running before your WiFi router does.

Note on fuel output: At 28kW on liquid propane and 25kW on natural gas, the 28kW has the widest LP/NG output gap in the residential generator line.
