Why Outages Land Differently in Northwest ISD

Ask anyone on your street. Out here the power goes out more often than it does in the middle of the metroplex, and when it goes, it stays gone longer.

01

More Line, Fewer Homes on It

Much of the district runs on electric cooperative lines — Tri-County Electric and CoServ — rather than a dense urban grid.

02

Distance, Not Effort

A downed line in open country takes longer to locate and longer to reach than one on a city street.

03

It Happens Every Year

Severe storms move through North Texas most years, and when they do, tens of thousands of homes can lose power at once — on top of the strain summer heat already puts on the grid.

04

Growth Is Outrunning the Grid

Northwest ISD is one of the fastest-growing districts in Texas, with new homes going up faster than the grid can expand to meet them.

You can’t do anything about the grid. You can do something about your house.

How a Standby System Works

A standby generator is permanently installed outside your home, wired into your electrical panel and fueled by your existing natural gas or propane supply.

Automatic Transfer

The system monitors utility power continuously. When it detects a loss, an automatic transfer switch isolates your home from the grid and brings the generator online, typically within seconds. No one needs to be home for it to work.

Sized to the Home

What stays on depends on the unit. A correctly sized system carries air conditioning, heat, refrigeration, well pump, security and lighting at the same time — or a defined set of critical circuits if you’d rather keep the footprint smaller.

Self-Monitoring

When utility power returns, the transfer switch hands your home back to the grid and the generator shuts down. A weekly self-test confirms the system is ready without any involvement from you.

Three Steps to Full Protection

Most whole-home installations move from first assessment to a running system in 3–6 weeks, depending on permit timelines and scheduling. The installation day itself takes a single day.

1

Free In-Home Assessment

One of our certified technicians visits your home — no obligation, no pressure. We evaluate your electrical panel, fuel supply, and power requirements, then give you a clear fixed price. What you’re quoted is what you pay.

2

We Handle Everything

Permits. Pad prep. Gas or propane line. Transfer switch. Full electrical installation. We manage every step — including coordinating with your utility and fuel supplier. You don’t need to chase anyone.

3

Installed and Running in One Day

On installation day our team completes the full job in a single visit. We run a full load test, register your manufacturer warranty, and walk you through the system before we leave. You’re covered from the moment we pack up.

Completed Installations by HomeSafe

Why North Texas Families Choose HomeSafe

TECL-Licensed Master Electricians

Every installation is led by a TECL-licensed master electrician — on our own payroll, not subcontracted out. The person who shows up is trained by us, accountable to us, and answerable to you.

Certified for All Three Brands

Factory-certified by Generac, Kohler, and Champion. Your installation is done to manufacturer spec — which means your warranty is valid, your load calculations are correct, and there are no gray areas.

Every Permit, Every Time

We manage the entire permitting process across Tarrant, Denton, and Wise Counties, including the smaller municipalities that handle their own reviews. Permit costs are included. You receive a completed permit card at the end of every job.

Natural Gas or Propane, Either Way

Plenty of homes in the district run on propane rather than natural gas. All three brands we install work with either. We confirm your fuel supply and tank capacity during the assessment and size the system to it — no surprises on installation day.

“HomeSafe installed a generator about 4 months ago — did everything from start to finish. Friday night, power goes out, generator kicks in 4 seconds. Called Saturday morning at 6:30am; Tye came out, found a failed component — Saturday morning, 20 degrees with wind chill — and got us rolling before he left. 5-star reviews should be 10!”

Cameron was great at scheduling and communicating everything from gas to electrical to install. Manny made sure we understood everything during generator school. Common Questions from Northwest ISD Families

Do you serve my part of the district?

Yes. We cover all of Northwest ISD — from Trophy Club and Roanoke across to Haslet, Justin, Northlake, and out to Rhome, Aurora, Newark, and New Fairview, plus the Keller, Southlake, Flower Mound, Westlake, and Fort Worth portions of the district. If you’re inside the boundary, we come to you.

We’re on propane, not natural gas. Does that work?

Yes. Every brand we install — Generac, Kohler, and Champion — runs on either natural gas or propane. It’s a completely standard installation for us. We confirm your fuel type and tank capacity during the free assessment and size the system accordingly.

Our neighborhood is new construction. Does that change anything?

Usually it makes it easier — newer panels and newer gas or propane service tend to be in good shape. What it does add is an HOA, and many newer communities here have placement and screening rules for exterior equipment. We deal with those regularly, and we’ll flag anything your HOA will want to see before we install, not after.

How long does installation take?

Most whole-home installations go from first assessment to a running system in 3–6 weeks, depending on permits and scheduling. The installation itself takes a single day.

Do you handle the permits?

Yes, always. We manage the entire permitting process across Tarrant, Denton, and Wise Counties, including the smaller municipalities in the district that run their own reviews. Permit costs are included and you receive a completed permit card at the end of the job.

How much does a whole-home generator cost?

It depends on your home’s size, the brand, and what you want to power, so we don’t quote blind. After your free assessment you get a clear fixed price — what you’re quoted is what you pay. Financing options may be available for qualified customers.

What size does my home need?

That’s exactly what the free assessment answers. We review your electrical panel, fuel supply, and what you want powered, then recommend the right size. You don’t need to work any of it out beforehand.
